Charles Kano

Managing Director, WestCap

Charles is a Managing Director on the WestCap Capital Markets team. He serves as the Corporate Risk Officer and leads the insurance practice for WestCap. Before joining WestCap, Charles was the founder and CEO of Healthcare Re, a private equity-backed insurance services firm. He also served as the founder and president of NueCaptive Insurance and served as the Corporate Risk Officer for Nueterra Capital. Charles has nearly two decades of insurance brokerage experience and served as a practice leader for Marsh in highly specialized risk industries including healthcare, technology, private equity, and mergers and acquisitions.
 
Charles holds a BA in Psychology and two Master's degrees (one in Organizational Behavior and Development and another in Organizational Industrial Psychology). He also holds professional designations as a Certified Risk Architect and a Professional Property & Casualty Insurance Broker.
 
Charles is a contributor to the Wharton School of Business Podcast and the Harvard Business Review IdeaCast.

Sam Camens

Managing Director- Insurance & Benefits, Onex Partners

Sam is focused on General Insurance, Health & Benefits, and Retirement programs strategy and effectiveness for Onex’ operating companies. He has oversight of these spend categories globally and partners with management teams to drive enhanced outcomes. Sam also supports related due diligence and investment activity within Onex. In this capacity, Sam currently serves on the board of OneDigital.

Prior to joining Onex, Sam was Managing Director of Alterity Group. A seasoned employee benefits and M&A consultant, he has advised many private equity firms and their operating companies on the management of Insurance & Benefits. He has led multibillion-dollar integrations / strategic carve-outs and consults directly to corporations across the healthcare and insurance industries.

Sam began his career at Towers Perrin (now Willis Towers Watson) within their Corporate Strategy & Development and Health & Benefits teams. Sam is a Board Member of the Youth Renewal Fund. He holds a B.A. Mathematics and B.A. Economics from Bucknell University.

Jeff Sharer

Vice President of User and Product Experience, LineSlip Solutions 

Jeff Sharer is LineSlip Solution’s Vice President of User and Product Experience. In this role, Jeff is responsible for enhancing the client experience through the lens of a risk manager.  Jeff has over thirty years of insurance and risk management experience as an underwriter, broker, consultant, and insurance and operational risk manager at AIG, Goldman Sachs, Marsh & McLennan, Towers Watson, and EY.  Jeff graduated from Moravian College and PACE University’s Haub School of Law.
